Hill Voice, 11 February 2021, Special Reporter: Recently, there have been allegations of upgrading an Ansar camp at Rangamati Sadar in Rangamati Hill District to a full-fledged army camp and setting up a new army camp in Tainkhali area of Bandarban Hill District.
According to local sources, the Ansar camp at Hajachari S Band in Jibatali Union under Rangamati Sadar Upazila now has been turned into a full-fledged army camp. At present the number of members in the camp has been increased. In addition to the deployment of the army in that camp now, there are also reports of members of the Ansar and the terrorist UPDF (Democratic). There are 70-80 members of the army, Ansar and UPDF (Democratic).
On the other hand, it has been alleged that the army is trying to set up a camp in Bazar Para area of Tainkhali mouza in Bandarban. For some time, they have been looking for a suitable place from the locals to set up the camp. It is to be noted that for several months now they have been staying there at a school called Tainkhali Government High School using it as a temporary camp.
There is allegation that in about two years from 2019 to January 2021 alone, 19 new army camps are set up or re-established and in the process of being set up in the three hill districts.
