An indigenous Jumma child shot in army’s brush fire in Sajek

Hill Voice, 9 October 2020 Rangamati: An indigenous Jumma child has allegedly been shot to injure in an army brush fire at Ujo Bazar area of ​​Baghaihat in Sajek Union in Baghaichari upazila of Rangamati district.

According to local sources, an army patrol team from Baghaihat Army Zone first conducted a search at Ujo Bazaar on 8 October 2020 Thursday at around 8:00 pm. After finding nothing, the patrolling army got into the vehicle and went 200 yards away from Ujo Bazaar and fired about five to six rounds indiscriminately.

Munimoy Chakma, a 12-year-old indigenous Jumma child, was got hit by shot in the right finger in an army brush fire on the spot. The bullet-injured Jumma child is the son of Ukke Chakma of Eguchyachari village in Ward No. 5 of Sajek Union.

It is learnt that since the incident, there has been panic in the minds of the people in the area.
