Hill Voice, 10 August 2023, Bandarban: It has been alleged that a Jumma girl named Nila Tanchangya was abducted from her home in Payajhiri Tanchangya Para of No.7 Ward of No.5 Sonaichari Union of Naikhyongchari Upazila under Bandarban District.
It was reported that on August 3, 2023, three Bengali youths led by settler Mohammad Russell forcibly abducted the Jumma girl on a motorcycle at around 10:00 PM.
After the incident, Nilami Tanchangya (41), the mother of Nila Tanchangya, the victim of kidnapping, filed a complaint at Naikhyongchari police station.
According to the statement of the complaint, the accused persons are – Md Russell (18), son of Shamsul Alam, Shamsul Alam (47), son of late Jalal Ahmed, Taiba Begum (40), wife of Shamsul Alam. They all are residents of present address- Shilghona, Bhaluk Khaiya, No.09 Ward, No.01 Naikhyongchari Sadar UP.
According to the sources of the victim’s family, the accused Md Russell (18) and his 3 accomplices forcibly abducted the victim from her home on August 3, 2023 at around 10.00 pm. Later her family members returned home and found that their daughter was not at home. After a lot of searching, when the family members reported the matter to the local leaders, they advised them to take legal recourse. Later the victim’s mother lodged a complaint against the said accused with the local police station.
