Hill Voice, 3 August 2020, Khagrachari: Army-backed Reformists and UPDF (Democratic) terrorists abducted a Jumma of Sajek area named Meran Tripura, 32, from the Dighinala bus terminal in Khagrachhari on Monday and released him on a ransom of Tk 50,000.
The abducted Meran Tripura is a resident of Hajachara village in Baghaihat of Sajek Union. He is a hired motorcyclist by profession. His father’s name is Sabiram Tripura.
It is learnt that on 2 August 2020 Sunday, Meran Tripura hired a passenger on a motorcycle and abducted him in Dighinala by army-backed terrorists. Afterwards, Janapriya Chakma and Asim Chakma, the leader of the kidnapping terrorists, demanded Tk. 5 lakh from his family in exchange for his release.
Later, following the recommendation of Nelson Chakma, chairman of Sajek Union, and Dayadhan Chakma, a member of the union, the terrorists released him on Monday (3 August) in exchange for a ransom of Tk. 50,000, local sources said.
