Hill Voice, 13 October 2021, Bandarban: It has been alleged that the army and police arrested an innocent Jumma villager with a home-made gun in the name of searching for the terrorist in Mangal Jhiri Chakma Para of Ward No. 1 of Nayapara Union under Alikadam Upazila of Bandarban district.
According to local sources, the army and police conducted a joint operation in Mangal Jhiri Chakma Para of Nayapara Union on Tuesday (October 12) in the afternoon. At this time the army and police surrounded the house of Ratna Moni Chakma. At one point, the army and police detained Ratna Moni Chakma from his home, putting a country-made gun with him.
The detainee was identified as Ratna Moni Chakma (48), son of Gajendra Chakma from Mangal Jhiri Chakma Para of Ward No. 1 of Nayapara Union under Alikadam Upazila.
Ratna Moni Chakma is a member of the Alikadam Thana Committee of the Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti (PCJSS). He is a farmer by profession. A member of the PCJSS’s district committee, who did not want to be named, said that the army and police had arrested Ratna Moni Chakma putting a gun with the aim of thwarting the movement for the implementation of the CHT Accord by spreading propaganda in branding the members of the PCJSS as ‘terrorists’ and ‘armed miscreants’.

Jahangir from the army camp set up occupying the site of Shijak Mukh Public Buddhist Monastery surrounded the house of Jupiter Chakma Bappi (36), son of Bimalaksh Chakma, of Dakshin Shijak village in Sarboatuli Union under Baghaichari upazila at around 8:30 pm on Tuesday, October 12, 2021.
At that time Jupiter Chakma Bappi was not at home. It is learnt that the army returned to the camp after interrogating a schoolboy at home. The question made by army include Jupiter Chakma is an accused in many cases, whether he came home, where he lives, etc.
