The Union Textiles Minister Smriti Irani calls up directly the legendary vegetable dyer and weaver Smriti Rekha Chakma to greet and compliment her on the occasion of 6th National Handloom Day on 7 August 2020.
At that time Textiles Minister Smriti Irani congratulated Smriti Rekha Chakma of Tripura on her outstanding contribution to the development of this creative industry.
In her telephonic call minister said, ‘I am amazed at your knowledge and designing on traditional handloom fabrics. I feel proud to greet you and wish you all the best.’
It is worth mentioning that Smriti Rekha Chakma is the first to her President Award in handloom weaving from Tripura and said to be strong contender of winning the Sant Kavir Award, the highest award for Master Trainer in the sector.
