Hill Voice, 14 August 2020, Khagrachari: Police have arrested four people on suspicion of being involved in the murder of a village doctor named Nur Mohammad Tipu in Matiranga, Khagrachari.
The arrest took place on 13 August 2020 Thursday.
However, the detainees were not involved in the incident, they were falsely entangled, locals said.
The detainees have been identified as Deni Tripura (22) and Sumon Tripura (20) of Kanthal Para of Ward No. 3 of Matiranga Union, Dipan Tripura, son of Bishwamoni Tripura of same village, Shanti Tripura (26), son of Shashi Mohan tripura of Mairung Para of Guimara Union of Guimara upazila.
It is learnt that Shanti Tripura was first arrested from a local shop yesterday afternoon. Later in the night, with the help of the army, the police arrested Deny Tripura, Sumon Tripura and Dipan Tripura from their respective homes and took them to Matiranga police station.
The detainees are currently being kept at Matiranga police station.
It may be mentioned that on 24 July, the miscreants killed Nur Mohammad Tipu and left him under the Sapmara Bridge in Matiranga Upazila. Police recovered Tipu’s body at noon that day.
On the other hand, on 12 August Wednesday at 1:00 pm the army has reportedly searched the houses of two villagers in Shukonochara village of Sajek union in Rangamati.
The people whose houses were searched are Indra Chakma, father Kamal Chakma and Liton Chakma, father Shanti Jiban Chakma.
It is learnt that a group of army personnel went and searched the houses of the two villagers.
It was not immediately clear what prompted the search.
However, despite the search, the troops could not recover anything illegal. The army later returned to the camp.
