Hill Voice, 28 November 2023, Rangamati : It has been reported that the Army have conducted harassing house searches and patrolling operations in Nanyachar Upazila and Mogban and Balukhali Unions of Rangamati Sadar Upazila of Rangamati District.
Yesterday on November 27 a group of army of approximately 30/35 army personnel led by a Captain from Manikachari army zone and Rangamati Sadar army zone of Mogban Union of Rangamati Sadar Upazila came and stayed at Deppochhari Government Primary School around 12 noon.
Later they left and went to Novanga village. There Ashamoy Chakma (38), S/O Nirmal Kanti Chakma, Lokkhi Moy Chakma (37), S/O- Tilak Chandra Chakma, Jyoti Moy Chakma (50), S/O- Tilak Chandra Chakma, Gyan Moy Chakma (40), S/O- Tilak Chandra Chakma, Nirumoy Chakma (42), S/O-Chavarbo chakma’s house were searched by the army without any charge sheet.
Then after the search operation, army raided nearby village of Deppochari. There Sunil Chakma (50), S/O- Sobhagyo Kumar Chakma, Bira Chakma (40), S/O- Unknown and Aranga Chakma (43), Priyo Lal Chakma and Tajal Chakma of Morongchari village, S/O- Sumati Ranjan Chakma’s house were searched in the same way.
Meanwhile, on November 26, 2023, a group of army of 16 personnel led by a Subedar from Pangkhoa Para Army Camp of Balukhali Union of Rangamati Sadar Upazila went to Lakkhanya Para around 3 pm along with bag and baggage and came to Bhije Hijing Government Primary School after patrolling surrounding area and stayed overnight. It is reported On November 27 the group returned to camp around 3 p.m.
