Hill voice, 11 June 2023, Bandarban : Armed terrorists of the Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF), known as Bawm Party have once again kidnapped four construction workers at gunpoint from Bogalek Para in Ruma Upazila of Bandarban District. However, reportedly they freed two workers later.
The incident took place on June 9, 2023, around 6 am.
As per locals, nine workers were working on a bridge in Bogalek Para. On June 9, 2023, around 6 am, the Bawm Party armed terrorists suddenly attacked and hostaged the workers at gunpoint. Later, they abducted sub-contractor Ripon Hossain and sub-contactor of Greentech Construction Abdul Awal along with Idris Ali and Jasim Uddin at a gunpoint.
The source added that although Ripon Hossain and Jasim Uddin were released in the morning on 10 June 2023, Md Idris Ali and Abdul Awal are still in the hostage of Bawm Party. However, the residential addresses of the victims have not yet found.
The source added that during the incident, the terrorists were in their uniforms and carrying local guns and AK-47 rifles. The key motive of kidnapping was to realize ransom from the construction workers.
It is to be noted that on March 11, 2023, four workers including retired army personnel Sergeant Md. Anwar Hossain (54) engaged in road construction of the army were kidnapped at gunpoint.
Moreover, since last year, Bawm Party terrorists abducted 26 innocent villagers, killed at least 8 people and drove 1,000 residents from nearly two dozen villages in Bawm, Tanchangya, Tripura and Marma communities.
In reality, the army have been backing the Bawm Party from the very beginning with the ulterior motive to oppose the implementation process of the CHT Accord and the self-determination movement of the Jumma people. But since 2020, Bawm Party terrorists have been giving shelter and military training to an international Islamic terrorist organization called ‘Jamaatul Ansar Hil Findal Sharqiya’. As a result, the conspiracy of the army centering the Bawm party has become a boomerang not only for the army but also for existence of the country.
