Hill Voice, March 5, 2023, Bandarban: It has been alleged that armed terrorists of the Bawm Party have threatened the elders and Karbaris of 7 Marma Paras (villages) adjacent to Mualpi Para of Paindu Union in Ruma Upazila of Bandarban District by calling them in a meeting.
According to local sources, today Sunday (March 5) at around 12.00 noon, KNF, known as Bawm Party, organized this meeting at the Mualpi Para Government Primary School with the elders and Karbaris of Marma villages adjacent to Mualpi Para of Paindu Union.
In this meeting, the elders of around 7 Marma Paras including Chainagra Para, Ujani Para (New), Ujani Para (Old), Nyongkhyong Para, Segun Para and Segun Para (Down) were called in this meeting.
But only a few Marma people including Karbari of Ujani Para (New), Karbari of Chainagra Para, Karbari of Nyongkhyong Para and elders of Mualpi Para participated in the meeting.
In the said meeting, the Bawm Party terrorists ordered the Marma villagers that if any person in the village had joined any other rival armed group, their list should be submitted and if the opponent armed group came to the village, they (JNF) should be informed. Otherwise, the Bawm Party terrorists threatened the elders of Marma villages to face severe consequences.
It is to be noted that on 26 February 2023 Bawm Party terrorists abducted four Tanchangya villagers from Gangachara (Tiger Para) in Bortholi Union of Bilaichhari Upazila of Rangamati and released them after two days of harassment. Meanwhile, the KNF threatened Tanchangya and Marma villagers to leave their respective villages in Ruma and Bilaichhari. In addition, armed terrorists of Bawm Party camped at least two schools in Paindu Union of Ruma by occupying them. Due to insecurity, teaching was stopped in at least 6 more primary schools of the Union.
It should also be noted that since 2020, KNF has been providing shelter and military training to an international Islamic terrorist organization called ‘Jamaatul Ansar Hill Findal Sharqiya’ in their hideout in the remote area of Ruma in exchange of money and has been carrying out atrocities including killing, kidnapping, beating and harassing upon the innocent indigenous villagers.
It is alleged that the Christian priests of the Bawm community are not spared from KNF torture. Since last year, KNF has abducted 22 innocent villagers including 11 from the Bawm community, killed at least 7 people including 3 from the Bawm community, evicted over 1,000 Bawm, Tanchangya, Tripura and Marma residents from nearly two dozen villages. In fact, it is alleged that no other words can be heard from the mouths of the Bawm Party terrorists except the words of shooting, killing, kidnapping, beating, threatening to burn houses etc.
