Hill Voice, 22 June 2022, Rangamati: It has been alleged that armed terrorists of the Bangladesh Army-backed Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF), known as Bawm Party, randomly shot dead three innocent Tripura villagers and injured at least five others, including children, at Saijam Para village in Barathali union of Belaichhari upazila of Rangamati. Saijam Para village is located in Bilaichhari upazila of Rangamati district and in a very remote area bordering Rowangchari and Ruma upazila of Bandarban district.
According to reliable sources, the brutal murder took place at around 10:30 pm yesterday (June 21).
According to local sources, while yesterday, the indigenous Tripura villagers of Saijam Para village were staying in their houses, at that time an armed group of Bawm Party terrorists came there and fired indiscriminately at the villagers. There were only three houses and families of the Tripura community alongside. Three people were killed on the spot in the random firing of the terrorists. Besides, at least 5 people including children and women were injured. A few more escaped and were able to report to the surrounding area.
The full identities of those killed and injured were not known at the time of writing.
Meanwhile, a local village leader of the surrounding area, who did not want to be named, said that without any provocation, the terrorists of the Bawm party carried out the cowardly killing of the villagers like crazy.
It is learnt that a number of Bawm, Khumi and Tripura families lived together in the village of Saijam Para some time ago. Later Bawm, Khumi families moved to elsewhere. At last only three Tripura families were staying there.
It is learnt that at present, there is both panic and anger among the villagers in and around the village.
