Hill Voice, 8 May 2022, Bandarban: It has been alleged that an elected Jumma ward member of Kuhalong Union Parishad (Council) in Bandarban Sadar Upazila under Bandarban Hill District has been abducted by army-backed Mog Party terrorists.
It is learnt that the abduction was carried out by the Mog Party with two Bengali men on the afternoon of May 7, 2022.
The victim was identified as Chayugya Marma (46) son of late Abu Mong Marma. His house is in Chemidolupara village in No.1 ward of Kuhalang union. He is an elected member of No.1 ward.
According to local sources, for the past few days, the terrorists of the Mog Party have been asking Chayugya Marma to visit them at Bangalhalia in Rajasthali upazila of Rangamati district.
According to them, on the morning of May 8, 2022, in a Mahindra car, UP member Chayugya Marma accompanied by some villagers went to Bangalhalia in Rajasthali Upazila to meet the people of Mog Party. It is learnt that the terrorists of the Mog Party met and talked with him at an unknown place. However, it was not known what they had talked about.
Meanwhile, on the way back from there at around 3:00 pm that day, when the vehicle reached at the face of Naikyachhara Road in Bangalhalia Bazar of Rajasthali, it was stopped by two unidentified Bengalis by signals. Then the Bengalis, as saying Chayugya Marma that they had talks with him, got him out of the car and told the other villagers to leave. The Bengalis said that Chayugya Marma will be released when the talk is over.
It is learnt that the Bengalis then took Chayugya Marma away in another Mahindra car and handed him over to the armed terrorists of the Mog Party in Bangalhalia area.
It is learnt that Chayugya Marma is still being held in hands of armed terrorists of Mog Party. However, villagers are reportedly contacting the Mog Party for his release.
According to a source, the Mog Party terrorists are trying to extort large sums of money from Chayugya Marma and his family members over Chayugya Marma’s release.
It is to be noted that the army, DGFI and local leadership of ruling Awami League have been harboring and patronizing armed terrorist groups such as the Mog Party, Reformist JSS (MN Larma), UPDF (Democratic), Kuki-Chin National Front known as Bawm Party etc. in order to thwart the implementation process of Chittagong Hill Tracts Accord and to mobilize these armed terrorists against the individuals and organizations who are vocal in demanding the implementation of the Accord including PCJSS.
Among them, the army and the ruling Awami League are carrying out anti-Accord and anti-Jumma interest activities with Mog Party by deploying its armed members in Powaitu Para of Gainda union of Rajasthali upazila and at rented houses in Bandarban town.
