40th death anniversary of revolutionary leader M N Larma observed in Tripura

Hill Voice, 11 November 2023, International Desk: The 40th death anniversary of the great revolutionary leader Manabendra Narayan Larma (M N Larma) was observed by Tripura Chakma Student Association (Chakma Chhatra Joda) and Chakma National Council of India (CNCI) in the state of Tripura, Amarpur, Udaipur, Langtrai Valley, Kailashshahr, Gandachara and Kanchanpur branches of Tripura state simultaneously.

On this occasion they paid their respects by lighting candles and garlanding the portrait of the great leader and a discussion meeting was organized at Shakya Sadak English Medium School on the initiative of Kanchanpur branch of Chakma Chhatra Joda.

Vice President of Tripura Branch of CNCI Aniruddha Chakma, Chakma Students Association Central Committee General Secretary Subal Kumar Chakma, Chakma Students Association Central Committee Assistant Organizing Secretary Prashanta Chakma were present in this discussion meeting.

Aniruddha Chakma said in the commemoration meeting, if Manvendra Narayan Larma had not been martyred by the dissidents on November 10, 1983, the non-Muslim population of the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) would not have been tortured by the Muslim population today. Today, all the people of CHT would may get their rights back.

He also said that today is the day of mourning and remembrance of Chakma people all over the world. He was elected MP in 1970 and highlighted the sufferings and rights of the people of CHT. He then demanded a separate autonomous region. Because he realized that the people of the CHT need an autonomous region to live with their rights.
