Hill Voice, 23 January 2023, Rangamati: It has been alleged that three innocent Jumma villagers including a Karbari (village head) were abducted from Nanyachar Sadar Union area under Nanyachar Upazila of Rangamati district by army-backed UPDF (Democratic) terrorists. However, it is reported that the abducted villagers were released in the evening of the same day.
It has been reported that the abduction took place yesterday on January 22, 2023 at around 2:00 PM from Taichakma Mukh Para of No.7 Ward of Nanyachar Sadar Union.
The kidnapped victims are- (1) Bana Bihari Khisa (45), son of late Singha Khisa, who is the Karbari of his own village; (2) Sushil Bihari Khisa (55), son of late Chandra Kishore Khisa, and (3) Anay Dutta Khisa (50), son of late Chandra Kishore Khisa, all from Taichakma Mukh Para.
According to local sources, a group of UPDF (Democratic) terrorists led by Gyana Chakma came to Taichakma Mukh Para at around 2:00 pm yesterday. On arrival, they first surrounded the houses of Karbari Bana Bihari Khisa and Sushil Bihari Khisa of the village and took away the mobile phones of all the members of the houses. The terrorists then abducted Karbari Bana Bihari Khisa and Sushil Bihari Khisa along with another villager named Anay Datta Khisa.
The reason for the abduction is not known. However, it was reported that the abducted villagers were released that evening.
