Hill voice, 19 March 2025, Rangamati: It’s reported that an indigenous Jumma was detained and beaten by Bangladesh Army in Banajogichara union of Jurachari upazila under Rangamati hill district yesterday (18 March).
It is learnt that today (19 Mach) the victim Jumma has been handed over to the police after beating and detaining all the night.
The name of the victim is Ujjal Chakma, son of Rabi Chandra Chakma, village- Thachi, No.6 Ward, Jurachari Sadar union.
According to local sources, on 18 March, a patrolling group of army led by one Subedar of Jokkha Bazar army camp under Banajogichara Army Zone of Jurachari detained Ujjal Chakma from upazila sadar area. At that time, Ujjal Chakma was returning home from a relative’s house of Banajogichara by taxi.
At that time, army personnel stopped the taxi and searched.
Having found nothing after searching, the army personnel detained Ujjal Chakma and took to the Jakkha Bazar army camp.
Detaining and torturing all the night in camp, today at around 10 am, the army personnel handed over Ujjal Chakma to the police of Jurachari police station.
