Two villagers abducted by UPDF released for ransom

Hill Voice, 28 January 2025, Khagrachari: The two villagers abducted by the armed terrorist group of UPDF, an anti-CHT Accord element, have been reportedly released in exchange for ransom.

A reliable source said that on Monday (January 27), the terrorists under the leadership of UPDF company commander Sumen, unit Commander Aishuk, chief collector Bikash of Panchari and group commander Pabitra Chakma collected 4 lakh taka as ransom from the abducted Sagar Chakma’s family while 7.5 lakh taka from the Nayan Jyoti Chakma’s family. After receiving the ransom, the terrorists freed the victims from Tarabun Chara in Panchhari.

It is noteworthy that on January 8, 2025, around 7:30 a.m, a 20-30 armed UPDF terrorists led by Nikolas Chakma, Pabitra Chakma, Sujoy Chakma, Rabi Chakma and Apan Chakma entered Dhudukchara village. Then, they abducted the two villagers Nayan Jyoti Chakma (43) and Sagar Chakma (45) from their houses at gunpoint, tying their hands and feet.

Later, the UPDF demanded taka 12 lakhs and 6 lakhs respectively for the release of abductees from village leaders contacted with UPDF for their release.
