Hill Voice, January 3, 2025, Rangamati: It has been alleged that a group of the army went to Royaparachara village in Farua union of Bilaichari upazila of Rangamati district yesterday (January 2) and suddenly and recklessly opened brush fire and conducted a massive search of the houses of two Jumma villagers.
It was reported that the brush fire spread panic in the surrounding Jumma villages.
According to local sources, yesterday morning, a group of soldiers led by a lieutenant from Farua Sub-Zone of Farua Union under the 32nd Bir Bilaichari Army Zone of the Bangladesh Army and another group led by Subedar Saiful from Taktanala Army Camp went to Royaparachara village and opened brush fire suddenly and recklessly.
Immediately after this, the army personnel conducted a patrol operation in Royaparachara village. During this, the army carried out a comprehensive search operation in the houses of the two Jumma villagers and ransacked the belongings of the houses.
The two victims of house searches were identified as Kamal Chakma (42) and Mriga Tanchangya (38).
