Hill Voice, 11 December 2024, Bandarban: It was alleged that on December 9, 2024 at around 9:30 pm, an armed group of 18 members of the Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) known as the Bawm Party intruded into the Neongkhyong Wa Para village in No.4 Ward of Paindu Union of Ruma Upazila of Bandarban District and then demanded 50,000 taka and 10 maunds of rice as extortion from the villagers.

According to the sources of the villagers, the KNF terrorists said that the money and rice must be given to the KNF members within the next week and threatened that otherwise there would be faced trouble.

It is learnt the people of that area are all known to be poor farmers. The villagers are said to be worried about how they will meet the KNF’s demands due to the current commodity prices rising and reducing the earnings.
