Army takes away a Jumma villager from Rajvila in Bandarban

Hill Voice, December 19, 2024, Bandarban: Yesterday Tuesday (December 18) a group of the Bangladesh Army allegedly abducted an innocent Jumma villager named Suisau Marma (45) from the Rajvila area of Bandarban Sadar Upazila under Bandarban district.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Suisau Marma’s wife and family members are deeply concerned as Suisau Marma has not been released as of the time of writing this report and it is not clear where he is being held or why he was taken away.

According to multiple sources, a group of army personnel from the Dolupara Army Camp in Kuhalong Union of Bandarban Sadar Upazila arrived at the house of Suisau Marma, a resident of Rajvila Upar Para, Rajvila Union of Bandarban Sadar Upazila, by two jeeps at around 12:30 pm on Wednesday. Suisau Marma’s wife had gone to Bandarban Sadar for work at that time.

The soldiers found Suisau Marma and took him away in a vehicle. Witnesses nearby could not say for sure where Suisau Marma was taken.

It is known that two hill youths wearing helmets were also riding a motorcycle behind the vehicles with the army personnel when Suisau Marma was taken away. It is known that the hill youths came there in an army vehicle.

Meanwhile, when Suisau Marma’s wife came to know about the incident, she went to the Dolupara army camp on her way back from Bandarban Sadar and asked the army why her husband was taken away. At that time, the soldiers at the Dolupara army camp told her that her husband (Suisau Marma) had been sent to the Bandarban Sadar army zone.

This morning (December 19), Suisau Marma’s wife went to the Bandarban Sadar Army Zone and contacted the army authorities and asked about her husband’s whereabouts. The army personnel present could not give any satisfactory answers. Furthermore, the army personnel denied taking Suisau Marma away.
Then Suisau Marma’s wife returned home with deep anxiety and worry.

Multiple sources, who did not wish to be named, said that Suisau Marma has been kept in the Bandarban Sadar army zone. However, they could not say how Suisau Marma is doing or why he has been detained.

As of the writing of this report, Suisau Marma has not yet been handed over to the police and even not shown as arrested.
