Hill Voice, 31 August 2024, Special Correspondent: Recently, it has been alleged that the army are conspiring to bring the Mog Party terrorists back to Bangalhalia, who were forced to leave Bangalhalia in Rajasthali upazila of Rangamati district in the face of resistance from the local angry Bengali-indigenius mob.
Besides, it is also known that the army and DGFI involved in the abduction of Bangalhalia Union Parishad Chairman Adumong Marma (50) by Mog Party terrorists a week ago. Reportedly, army and DGFI involved in this incident to get a share of extortion on one hand and bring the terrorists to Bengalhalia on the other.
It is to be noted that on August 20, around 8:30 am, Chingsu Marma (40) and Mandi Marma (35) of Mog Party went to Bangalhalia bazar and got into an argument over extortion with a shopkeeper named Aziz (65). At one point, the Mog Party members beat Aziz badly. Shortly after, a local Bengali-indigenous mob of Bengalhalia Bazar area thrashed the two. The mob set fire to the Mog Party’s hideout adjacent to the bazar. This forced the terrorists to leave Bangalhalia Bazar area and move to their hideout in Powaitu Para of Gaindya Union.
After that on August 25, Chairman Adumong Marma was abducted by Mog party terrorists at around 3 pm. It is known that on that day Chairman Adumong Marma went to Rajasthali to collect his allowance. Sailumong Marma, known as the third-in-command of the Mog Party, phoned Chairman Adumong Marma to meet him alone at their hideout in Powaitu Para as soon as possible. Before going there, the chairman left his allowances in the hands of his assistant Kyshaihla Marma (retired policeman) and moved towards Powaitu Para. Chairman Adumong Marma could not return home that day. His phone had also been switched off. When contacted, Mog Party leaders denied the matter.
Meanwhile, on August 29, the abducted chairman’s assistant Kashaihla Marma handed over the chairman’s allowances to the chairman’s wife. But shortly afterwards the allowances were taken away from the chairman wife by Safi, an army personnel of Bangalhalia army camp.
Yesterday (August 30) morning, Commander of Bangalhalia camp Subedar Safi called all the elected members of Bangalhalia Union and members of reserved seats to the camp. Meanwhile, the camp commander ordered the members to spread a propaganda that PCJSS had involvement in the abduction of the chairman and asked them to hold a rally against the PCJSS.
However, only the member of the Ward No. 2 of the union and the current panel chairman Kamal gave consent to it but all the other members disagreed him.
Several sources, who did not want to be named, said that the army are conspiring to bring the Mog Party back to Bengalhalia and collect a handsome ransom by putting pressure on the kidnapped chairman.
Allegedly, staying at Bangalhalia, the terrorists of the so-called Marma Nationalist Party (MNP), known as the Mog Party have been carrying out extortion and various terrorist activities including killing and abducting the workers of PCJSS and people involved in the movement implementing the CHT Accord.
