A UP Chairman kidnapped by Mog Party terrorists in Rajasthali

Hill Voice, 25 August 2024, Rangamati: It was alleged that today (August 25), around 3 pm, Adumong Marma (50), Chairman of Bangalhalia Union Parishad, Rajasthali Upazila of Rangamati District, was kidnapped by terrorists of the Marma Nationalist Party, known as the Army-backed Mog Party.

According to local sources, Sailumong Marma, who is known as the third-in-command of Mog Party, phoned Chairman Adumong Marma early this morning and asked him to visit them alone at their hideout in Powaitu Para village as soon as possible. It is known that Adumong Marma was in Rajasthali headquarters at that time.

Later Chairman Adumong Marma informed his wife over the phone and at that time a member of Bangalhalia village police named Unuthowai Marma was also present.

According to Adumong Marma’s family sources, Adumong Marma’s phone has been switched off since then. A family member, who did not wish to be named, alleged that Adumong Marma was abducted by Mog Party members.

When the Mog Party leaders were contacted later in the afternoon through administration officials, they reportedly denied the matter.

As of writing this report, Chairman Adumong Marma has not returned home and his whereabouts and condition are not known.

It is to be noted that on August 20, two members of the Mog Party were seriously injured in a mass beating by local Bengali-Pahari angry people in Bangalhalia Bazar of Bangalhalia Union. On that morning, when those members of the Mog Party beat up a shopkeeper named Aziz Saudagar (65) over extortion, later the angry crowd of the Bazar thrashed the two members of the Mog Party.
