Hill Voice, 22 August 2023, Bandarban: There have been allegations that Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) terrorists known as Bawm Party have been demanding huge extortion and forcibly taking away chickens, goats, dog etc. from Jumma villagers in Paindu Union of Ruma Upazila under Bandarban district.
According to local sources, yesterday night of 21 August 2023, an armed group of KNF entered the Parowa Para village of No.4 Ward of Paindu Union. On entering, they snatched chicken weighing about 32 kg from the villagers without paying any money and took away a dog killing by shot. While leaving, the KNF terrorists told the villagers that within the next week, the villagers must pay an extortion of 500 taka per family and arrange to send them (KNF).
According to the sources of the villagers, also today (August 22, 2023), an armed group of 12 people of KNF entered the village of Thawaibatong Para of Paindu Union. It is learnt that they forcibly snatched a goat from a villager without payment and slaughtered it and then ate. Besides, 4 sacks of rice from the villagers of Thowaibatong, 3 sacks of rice from the villagers of Chainda Headman Para and 3 sacks of rice from the villagers of Mualpi Para have to be collected for them by next Thursday, said the KNF terrorists.
As of writing this report, KNF terrorists are still reported to be staying in Thowaibatong Para village.
Earlier, on August 17, 2023, a group of KNF terrorists reportedly entered Chairagra Para village in No.3 Ward of the same union. At that time, the KNF terrorists snatched chicken weighing about 12 kg from the villagers for free and told each family in the village to pay 500 taka as a contribution.
Next day (August 18) night, KNF terrorists again went to that village and fired 6 rounds of blank shot. This created a lot of panic among the villagers.
On the other hand, on August 17, 2023, another group of KNF terrorists went to Kyalungkhyong Para village in No.3 Ward of Paindu Union. At that time, the terrorists snatched chicken weighing about 8-9 kg from the villagers without paying price and told them that the villagers would have to pay money them by collecting a contribution of 500 taka every family in the village within a week.
