Hill voice, 28 June 2023, Bandarban: It has been reported that Para Karbari (village head) and Lama Sarai Bhumi Raksha Sangram Committee Member Secretary Langkom Mro who was arrested while seeking bail in the Bandarban District Magistrate Court in a false case filed by Lama Rubber Industries Ltd. of Lama Upazila under Bandarban District have been released on bail.
Local say, on March 1, 2023, being a plaintiff Abdul Malek, the assistant manager of Lama Rubber Industries filed a fabricated and conspiracy case aganist 12 indigenous people with Lama Police Station.
Later, on March 30, 2023, 8 persons including Langkom Mro, Rangdhajan Tripura, Renyan Mro, Ringrong Mro, Duithong Mro applied for bail appearing in the Bandarban District Magistrate Court. After hearing, the judge of the court Nazmul Hossain granted bail to 7 people including Rangdhajan Tripura, but denied the bail for Langkom Mro and passed a verdict to send Langkom Mro to jail.
Serving a three months long imprisonment, the court released the Para Karbari Langkom Mro, the member secretary of Lama Sarai Bhumi Raksha Sangam Committee on bail on 26 June, 2023, at around 8 pm.
After being released from jail, Langkam Mro said that the movement for the 400 acres of Jum farming land in the possession of Tripura and Mro people can never be stopped giving threat of case, attacks and persecution. He voiced a sharp demanded to withdraw all conspiratorial fabricated cases filed against Tripura and Mro community.
Previously, on 1 March, 2023, a leading organizer of Bhumi Raksha Sangam Committee, Mothi Tripura was arrested by police in same case. In march 27, 2023, Mothi Tripura was freed from jail after 26 days imprisonment.
Notably, for the incident of vandalizing, looting and arson in the houses of Langkam Mro Karbari Para by Lama Rubber Company, Langkam Mro Karbari filed a case against 150-170 unknown persons including Abdul Malek, Assistant Manager of Lama Rubber Industries on 7 January 2023 with Lama Police Station. The court did not take any measures against the accused persons in the said case, on the contrary, the magistrate court sent Langkom Mro to jail on March 30 in a false case filed by Lama Rubber Company.
Furthermore, in April 2022, 400 acres of jum farming land, plantations and village common forests of three Mro and Tripura villages of Sarai Union of Lama were burnt by Lama Rubber Company. More notably, Lama Rubber Company has so far caused to happen attacks more than a dozen times, vandalizing houses, attempting to kill villagers mixing poison in the water source, filing false cases and expropriating lands in the said villages.
