Hill Voice, 7 June 2023, Special Correspondent: An armed group of 50 armed UPDF (Democratic) and Reformist terrorists from Longadu of Rangamati district and Khagrachari districts has been allegedly being taken to Bandarban hill district by the Bangladesh Army.
A reliable source said that these terrorists are supposed to be taken to Bandarban under the supervision of the Bangladesh army on Tuesday night (6 June 2023) or today Thursday. However, the source could not confirm where in Bandarban or for what purpose these terrorists are being deployed there.
According to a local source, the day before Yesterday (June 5, 2023) around 4 pm, an armed group of 20-22 people of UPDF (democratic) and Reformist terrorists left for Khagrachari in 2 jeeps of Bangladesh Army from Karlyachari area of No.1 Atarakchara Union of Longadu Upazila. At least 50 armed terrorists will be taken to Bandarban along with 25-30 more cadres of UPDF (democratic) and reformist terrorists from Khagrachari.
An eyewitness, who did not wish to be named, said that a member of an armed terrorist group in an army vehicle could be heard saying to a friend on his mobile phone, “Dude, we are going to Khagrachari, we have to go to Bandarban tonight. Pray for me.”
A prominent rights activist, who did not want to be named, said that the army are taking these terrorists there with the aim of strengthening the position of armed terrorists supported by the army in the area, including conducting a proxy war against the armed terrorists of the KNF, which harbors Islamic militants in Bandarban.
He said that already 40 members of UPDF (Democratic) and Reformist terrorists were taken to Ruma area of Bandarban by the army to conduct proxy war against KNF and these terrorists were unleashed against KNF and Bawm community.
It is to be noted that on April 6, 2023, 8 innocent villagers, including a Bawm party member, were shot dead in cold blood by the Reformist and UPDF (democratic) terrorists in Khamtang Para of Rowangchari with the help of the army.
It is to be noted that in order to thwart the movement of Jumma people led by Jana Samhati Samiti to implement the CHT Accord and suppress the pro-Accord people, they are the army that have allegedly created armed groups such as Pro-Prasit UPDF, UPDF (Democratic), Reformist, Mog Party, KNF known as Bawm Party and that help them directly and indirectly. But at one point, when the news of KNF providing shelter and military training to Islamic militant groups in exchange for money was revealed, RAB and the army were compelled to launch an army operation against KNF.
It should also be noted that since the announcement of the schedule of the 11th National Assembly elections in October 2018, UPDF (democratic) and Reformist armed terrorists were brought to some places in Baghaichari, Longadu, Nanyachar, Rangamati Sadar area and Kaptai upazila with the direct support of the army and the ruling elite. Later, these terrorists established a reign of terror in these areas by carrying out extortion, kidnapping, ransom collection, search of products and passenger vehicles, attacks on members and supporters of Jana Samhati Samiti, etc. Especially on May 14, 2019, 14 UPDF (democratic) and Reformist members were brought to Suvalong with weapons under army guard from Dighinala in broad daylight. With the direct support of the Suvalong Army Camp, the UPDF (democratic) and Reformist members continued to carry out their terrorist activities freely, taking up positions in the nearby Suvalong Bazar.
