Hill Voice, 6 March 2023, Rangamati: It has been reported that the Army have conducted patrolling operations in various villages of Farua Union of Bilaichari Upazila of Rangamati District. Meanwhile, it is reported that the army have taken the initiative to set up a new camp in Nyanyachar upazila and another new camp in Bilaichhari upazila of Rangamati.
According to local sources, on March 3, 2023, the army of Dhupshil Camp and Farua Camp of 32 Bir Regiment under the leadership of two subadars dividing into two groups comprising 22 personnel in each group carried out patrolling operation at Lota Pahar area of Farua Union.
At this time, the army have patrolled Pangkho Para and Marma Para for two days. Subeda of Dhoopsheel camp ordered the Jumma villagers of the two villages called the villagers that if the terrorists came in the village, the villagers must report to Dhupshil camp. Otherwise, the army threatened that the villagers would have to face the problem.
Meanwhile, at the same time, a group of 12 soldiers of 32 Bir Regiment under the leadership of a Habildar Major from the Merangchara army camp of Farua Union conducted a patrolling operation in the upper area of Bhoruttochara of Naraichari in Farua Union.
Meanwhile, the army personnel visited a grove land belonging to late Mahesh Chandra Chakma. There was an APBN camp at the site pre-Chittagong Hill Tracts Accord period. The camp was withdrawn after the Accord of 1997. According to local sources, army personnel marked the site for setting up a new camp on the land of the withdrawn camp.
The owners of the land of the withdrawn camp are the three sons of late Mahesh Chandra Chakma, namely, Gyanendu Bikash Chakma (50), Sharabindu Bikash Chakma (47) and Amar Bikash Chakma (38). A teak plantation has been created in that place.
Meanwhile, since March 2, 2023, a group of soldiers in Nanyachar zone has taken position to set up a new camp in the place of the withdrawn camp at 18 miles (adjacent to Dakbangla) of Ward No. 8 of Nanyachar Union of Nanyachar Upazila of Rangamati District.
