Hill Voice, 6 March 2023, Rangamati: It has been alleged that a Jumma Woman, resident of Bandukbhanga Union of Sadar Upazila under Rangamati Hill District, was murdered by a Bengali thug in Rangunia area of Chittagong on the night of March 5, 2023.
The victim’s name is Champa Chakma (26), daughter of Shantimoy Chakma, Village-Chakrachari, No.2 Ward, Bandukbhanga Union. It is learnt that she is working as an assistant manager of a private organization ‘Padakshep’ in the Hosnabad branch of Rangunia.
Md Enamul Haque Enam (26), a loanee from Rangunia, has been alleged to have committed the murder. Md. Enamul Haque Enam’s house is in Paschim Para village of North Parua area. His father’s name is Md. Nuruzzama, mother’s name is Zaheda Begum.
It has been reported that yesterday night around 8:30 pm Champa Chakma was stabbed in the throat and seriously injured in front of her office by the accused Md Enamul Haque Enam. Champa Chakma was declared dead by the doctor on duty, even though she was rushed to the hospital.
According to the commentary of the local police, it is learnt that a couple of months ago, Md. Enamul Haque Enam took a loan of one lakh taka from a non-governmental organization through one of his sisters. Champa Chakma had a altercation with Enam recently due to non-payment of monthly installments against the loan.
It is learnt that Champa Chakma met the accused Enam after leaving the office at Dhamairhat in Lalanagar of Rangunia at around 8:30 pm yesterday. It is believed that Enam was there waiting for Champa Chakma as planned. At that time, another round of discussion took place between the two. At one point, Enam stabbed Champa Chakma in the throat with a sharp knife and quickly ran away.
Rangunia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahbub Milki said, Enam hit Champa’s throat with a knife. Although the wound was not very large, his airway was severed. The doctor declared her dead when she was rescued and taken to Rangunia Upazila Health Complex.
Till the writing of this report, the accused murderer was not arrested.
