Hill Voice, 20 January 2023, Bandarban: In two separate incidents in Ruma Upazila of Bandarban Hill District, two innocent Jumma villagers were allegedly detained and severely beaten up by the terrorists of army-backed Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF), known as Bawm Party.
The two victims of arrest and beating are- (1) Singlum Lian Lusai, son of U Teiyamitiya Lusai, Address-Ruma Sadar Area and (2) Lumyeong Marma (32), son of Ngaichingmong Marma, Village-Mualpi Para, Ruma Sadar. Singlum Lian Lusai is said to be a local ginger and turmeric trader and Lumyeong Marma is an ordinary jum farmer.
According to local sources, on January 17, 2023, a group of Bawm Party terrorists arrested Singlum Lian Lusai from Ruma Sadar area and took him to their hideout on the charge of informing the administration. The terrorists detained Singlum Lian Lusai for two days and severely beat him. Then on January 19, 2023, Bawm Party terrorists released Singlum Lian Lusai with physical injuries.
Currently, Singlum Lian Lusai is said to be receiving treatment at home.
On the other hand, on January 18, 2023, an armed group of 20 Bawm Party terrorists went to Mualpi Para of Ruma Sadar area on motorcycles from Bastlang Para and first looked for Lumyeong Marma. But since Lumyeong Marma was not at home, the terrorists kept waiting for Lumyeong Marma. Later in the afternoon, when Lumyeong Marma returned from jum, the terrorists caught him and beat him up.
