Hill Voice, 5 January 2023, Dhaka: The meeting of the Left Democratic Alliance has expressed strong condemnation and concern over the incident of attack and arson in the settlement of Mro community living in Lama in Bandarban.
It is said that even though such incidents are happening one after another, the indigenous people are not getting the security of their lives and homesteads. Such events are not possible without the direct support of the local administration. In the meeting, the demand was made for the security of life and exemplary punishment of the terrorists along with the land rights of the indigenous peoples.
In the meeting, the countrymen were called upon to strengthen the struggle to ensure the independence of all constitutional institutions, including the media, the judiciary, and the end of misrule.
Yesterday Wednesday (January 4), at 11:00 am, presided over by Left Alliance Coordinator and CPB General Secretary Ruhin Hossain Prince at the meeting held at the Central Office of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB), the meeting was addressed by Bazlur Rashid Feroze, General Secretary of Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (Basad), Communist League secrerariat board member Professor Abdur Sattar, Basad (Marxist) general secretary Masud Rana, CPB leader Sajjad Zahir Chandan, Basad leader Rajekuzzaman Ratan, Democratic Revolutionary Party’s Shahidul Islam Sabuj, Socialist Movement’s Abdul Ali, Rubel Sikdar, Basad (Marxist) Rashed Shahriar.
In the meeting, it has been called to start the discussion for formulating the outline of the party-neutral caretaker government along with the reform of the election system.
The meeting said, power-hungry parties have turned politics into an unprincipled power game. The current government is increasing public suffering. Corruption, looting has gone to unlimited levels. Due to which even economists and researchers are forced to say that there was not so much looting even during the British period. In this opportunity, the anti-imperialist expansionist forces are carrying out various activities.
It was said in the meeting that without democracy and democratic rule of law, no development brings public welfare and the welfare of the country as a whole. This government has not only taken away the right to vote, it has destroyed democratic institutions.
