Hill Voice, 19 December 2022, Bandarban: There have been allegations of abduction and extortion of a Jumma from Thanchi Upazila of Bandarban Hill District and harassment of people and extortion from a Bengali in Ruma Upazila by Army-backed Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) terrorists known as Bawm Party.
According to local sources, on December 15, 2022, a group of Bawm Party terrorists first abducted a villager named Krongsin Mro (41), son of Blung Mro, from Blung Para, No.1 Remakri Union of Thanchi Upazila. It is said that the terrorists took away 1 lakh and10 thousand takas from Krongsin Mro.
As of writing this report, four days after the abduction, the terrorists of the Bawm Party have reportedly not released the abducted Krongsin Mro.
On the other hand, on December 13, 2022 at around 7:30 pm, a group of 10 Bawm Party terrorists went to Dulachan Para village of No.3 Remakri Prangsa Union of Ruma Upazila and forced all the families of the village to turn off the lights. At one point, the Bawm Party terrorists had a lot of arguments with the villagers and then the terrorists left the place.
After leaving Dulachan Para, when the Bawm Party terrorist group found Md. Belal, the head mechanic of the bridge constructed on the Remakri canal between Baklai Para and Dulachan Para, adjacent to the Thanchi-Bara Madak border road, the terrorists reportedly took away 5 lakh takas from Belal. Apart from this, terrorists of Bawm Party instructed Md. Belal to go to Dulachan neighborhood and give them another 5 lakh takas by December 20.
