Hill Voice, 1 August 2022, Special Correspondent: Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Oikya Parishad has rejected the circular issued recently to all media outlets in the country not to identify indigenous peoples as ‘Adivasi’ terming it as ‘ridiculous, absurd and discriminatory’.
This demand has been raised in a press release signed by Mihir Ranjan Howladar, Office Secretary of Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Oikya Parishad, today (August 1, 2022) on behalf of the organization.
It is also said that in the statement given by the Oikya Parishad, referring to the verdict of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, it is said, ‘If you are in the opposition party, you can use the word Adivasi and if you are in the government, you imposed restriction to use the word – this cannot be logical and fair in any way’.
