Hill Voice, 24 April 2022, Rangamati: It has been alleged that an innocent Jumma was detained and tortured by the Bangladesh Army in Ghagra Union of Kaukhali Upazila under Rangamati Hill District.
The victim has been identified as Jayanta Tanchangya (38), son of Suresh Chandra Tanchangya, village of Kalabagan area, Ghagra Union.
According to local sources, a group of army numbering 20/25 members from Ghagra army camp and a member of the intelligence agency DGFI Md. Pabel went on a patrol in Kalabagan area of Ghagra union at around 10:00 am on April 23, 2022. At that time, the army personnel surrounded the house of Jayanta Tanchangya, a resident of Kalabagan area and apprehended Jayanta Tanchangya and took him to Ghagra army camp.
Army personnel detained Jayanta Tanchangya at Ghagra Army Camp for about 5-6 hours. During the detention, the army conducted inhumanely physical and mental torture on Jayanta Tanchangya, alleging that he was cooperating fully with the Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti (PCJSS).
Later, at around 4:00 pm, the army personnel of Ghagra camp took a signature from Jayanta Tanchangya on a blank paper and handed him over to his father Suresh Tanchangya.
