Hill Voice, 13 March 2022, Bandarban: According to reliable sources, the army have recently held several conspiratorial secret meetings with the concerned quarters in the Bandarban Hill District to discuss how the Mog Party could be used for more destructive terrorist activities.
According to the source, a secret meeting was held between Bandarban Army Zone, Ruma Army Zone and Rangamati Army Brigade at Bandarban Sadar recently. Although the exact date of the meeting could not be known, the source confirmed that the meeting was held this week.
On the other hand, it is learnt that another secret meeting was held on Friday, March 11, 2022 in Thanchi Upazila at the initiative of the army. The meeting was attended by army officials from Thanchi Upazila Sadar Zone, Ruma Sadar Zone, BGB’s Thanchi Zone and members of the intelligence department. The meeting was reportedly led by Ruma Sena Zone Commander Major Badrul.
Apart from army, intelligence and BGB officials, the meeting was attended by representatives of District Awami League, Mog Party, UPDF (Democratic), settler organization Parbatya Chattagram Nagorik Committee (CHT Citizens Council) and some army obedient public representatives, headmen and individuals. The meeting was attended by a Bengali named Md. Rony, who has been working as the coordinator between the army and the Mog Party on behalf of the Mog Party, and Sabuj Marma alias Uthowaiching Marma, current Second-in-Command of the Mog Party.
On the other hand, Bandarban District President of UPDF (Democratic) Mongpu Headman and three Headmen were reportedly present as representatives of Bandarban Hill District Council Chairman and District Awami League President Kyaw Shwe Hla. It is learnt that former chairman of Rowangchari Upazila Parishad Hlathowaihri Marma was also present in this meeting.
The meeting discussed to take measures to ensure that the leaders and activists of Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti (PCJSS), who are active and vocal for implementation of the CHT Accord, could not move or carry out any activities in and around Bandarban Sadar. Apart from the armed terrorist activities of the Mog Party, it was also decided that the army would conduct military operations around the area.
All those present were warned by the military to keep the meeting secret and to prevent the decisions from being leaked to the others. It is said that there will be difficulties if it is exposed by anyone.
It is learnt that during the discussion, the army administration decided to intensify the activities of attacking, killing and abducting the leaders and supporters of PCJSS through the terrorist organization, Marma Liberation Party, widely known as Mog Party. Therefore, the plan was taken to divide the Mog Party terrorists into two groups and intensify their armed activities in the two areas.
One of the groups of Mog Party will deploy in and around Rajasthali upazila under Rangamati district bordering Bandarban. Another group will be stationed permanently in Rowangchari and Ruma upazilas of Bandarban district and will intensify activities in different areas of Bandarban.
It is to be noted that the Mog Party is an armed terrorist group created and supported by the army and the local Awami League. In the Chittagong Hill Tracts, two other terrorist groups supported by the army are the Reformist JSS and the UPDF (Democratic). The army and the local Awami League, in their vested interests, use these terrorist groups in various conspiracies against the implementation of the CHT Accord and in terrorist activities such as repression, torture, abduction and killing of PCJSS leaders and supporters and rights activists as well.
In the last two months alone (January-February 2022), there have been reports of murders of 3 persons, abduction of 15 people and collection of ransom from abductees, threats and beatings to 4 people, attempted murder of 1 person and search of 4 houses by these terrorist groups.
The last time, an innocent villager named Unuemong Marma was killed in Taracha Union of Rowangchari Upazila was shot dead by Mog Party terrorists on March 5, 2022 at around 11:00 AM.
However, at around 2:00 pm on the same day, at least 4 to 6 armed members of the Mog Party were reportedly killed in a gun attack of opponent group at Phalangkshyong on the banks of Sangu river on the Rowangchari-Ruma border.
In fact, this way the army, law enforcement forces, the administration and the local leadership of the ruling Awami League have been inciting conflict and terrorism in the Chittagong Hill Tracts in the name of counter-terrorism.
