Hill Voice 24 February 2022, Rangamati: An innocent Jumma was arrested and physically abused by the army at Sajek in Rangamati.
The incident took place around 3:00 pm on Wednesday (February 23, 2022).
According to local sources, Wednesday was the weekly market day in Ujobazar. Gyana Ranjan Chakma went to Bazaar and on his way back home after buying and selling he was having tea at a shop called Retkaba Dopada around 3:00 pm.
At that time, a group of army came from Baghaihat zone in a pickup and arrested him from the shop and took him to the zone.
It is learnt that after being taken there, he was handed over to Sajek Police Station after being physically abused and put a ‘receipt book of extortion’.
Detained Gyana Ranjan Chakma is the son of late Dibya Charan Chakma of Daine Baibachara village of Sajek. Locals said that the army detained Gyana Ranjan Chakma without any reason.
