Hill Voice, 4 February 2022, Special Correspondent: At least 4 innocent Jumma people have been arrested, 2 houses have been searched and 3 Jumma people have been beaten by the army in different places of the three hill districts.
It is learnt that in a secret meeting held in Bandarban zone, it was decided to engage the Mog Party against the individuals and members of Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti who are vocal for the implementation of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Accord.
2 Jummas beaten in Dighinala
According to local sources, on Friday (February 4) at around 5:30 am, the army fired 10-15 rounds at the house of a Jumma villager labeling him as a terrorist in Ultachari Dojor Para of Dighinala Upazila Babuchara Union in Khagrachari district.
It may be mentioned that Rina Baap alias Ripon Chakma (45) and his son Kalaiya Chakma (19) were arrested and severely beaten in the area immediately after the sudden brush fire by the army at Ultachhari Dojor Para. It is learnt that Kalaiya Chakma has just completed the SSC exam.
It is learnt that the army is stationed there till the writing of this report. As a result, there is widespread panic in the area.
It is also reported that the incident was committed under the leadership of Babuchara Army Sub-zone Commander Warrant Officer Enam and Jarulchari Camp Commander Warrant Officer Imam.
2 houses searched and 1 person beaten in Jurachari
According to local sources, on Wednesday (February 2) a group of army personnel from Jaksha Bazar Army Camp, Shilchari Camp and Zone Sadar under Bonjogichara zone under Jurachhari upazila of Rangamati jointly conducted patrolling operation in Chakpatighat, Chumachumi, Ghilatuli and Samira areas of Jurachari.
Later, the army searched the houses of Jyoti Ranjan Chakma, son of Dayadhan Chakma and Sabendra Chakma at around 8.25 pm in Samira village of Ward No. 3 of Jurachari Union. Rupentu Chakma, son of Balukke Chakma were later allegedly beaten by the army in the same village.
4 arrested at Samataghat in Rangamati
According to local sources, on Tuesday (February 1) at 8:20 am four persons were allegedly arrested by the army from a tea shop in Samataghat area of Rangamati town.
One of the detainees was identified as Fuleshwar Chandra Chakma, a headmaster, from Shashi Dewan Para. However, among the other three, a pig trader (Tripura person) from the Reserve Bazar, and the headman of Baghachola Mouza.
They were reportedly detained and taken to the camp, where they were released after interrogation.
