Hill Voice, 9 March 2021, Rangamati: It has been alleged that an elected Jumma UP member of Kengrachhari Union of Bilachhari Upazila under Rangamati Hill District has been detained and beaten by the Bangladesh Army. However, it is learnt that the detained Jumma was released later.
According to local sources, on March 7, 2021 at around 8:00 pm, a group of army of the Merangchhara Temporary Army Camp under the Aporajeyo 6 (invincible 6) of the East Bengal Regiment of the Belaichhari Army Zone, arrested Bhagyalal Chakma (4), an elected member of the No.6 Naraichhari Ward of the Kengrachhari Union and then taken to Bilaichhari army zone.
Bhagyalal Chakma was detained all the night in Bilachhari army zone and interrogated and beaten. The army threatened that Bhagyalal Chakma would be in trouble if he could not bring some elders from Naraichhari area to Bilaichhari army zone.
It is learnt that Bhagyalal Chakma, who was detained by the army was released in the guardianship of some elders of Naraichhari at around 9:00 am on March 8, 2021.
