Hill Voice, 5 October 2020, Chittagong: A teenage Barua girl has been allegedly raped in Urkirchar Union in Rawzan upazila of Chittagong district. The incident took place on 3 October 2020. The accused of the rape is Sadhan Barua (60), son of late Jamini Kumar Barua. He is also a resident of the same village.
According to local sources, the victim’s mother died prematurely about 8 years ago, leaving her minor son and a daughter. When there was no one to take care of them, the victim’s father left his minor son and daughter at his younger sister’s house.
On 3 October 2020, he lured her to the forest on the bank of the pond on the south side of the house, forcibly raped her and handed her a note of Tk. 500.
When the guardian saw Tk. 500 note in victim’s hand and interrogated her, the victim exposed everything to her aunty. Sadhan Barua has been raping to her for 11 days against her will by showing greed and luring.
The father of the 11-year-old victim said that on the advice of Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rawzan Police Station Abdullah Al Harun, a case was submitted to Nor Hossain, OC (Investigation) of Rawzan Police Station.
The victim’s father said, “they are getting threat from the accused side in various ways because the family of the rapist is also powerful. We are suffering from insecurity now. Even then I want the punishment of my daughter’s rapist.”
