Hill Voice, 3 October 2020, Rangamati: It has been alleged that a truck driver named Abdul Mannan (40) tried to rape a Jumma woman by showing her the temptation of money at Shijokachara area of Sajek union in Rangamti district. The incident took place on 2 October 2020 Friday afternoon.
The rapist Abdul Mannan’s home is in Fatikchhari area of Chittagong. His father’s name was Nur Islam. He used to transport goods from Sajek by truck.
According to local sources, at 5:00 pm yesterday, the truck driver Abdul Mannan went to Shijokchhara area in a drunken state and made a bad offer to the woman in exchange for money. Later, while the Jumma woman does not agree, the lustful driver tried to rape her. The woman later reported the incident to the elders of the area.
The locals went to the spot and apprehended the truck driver and handed him over to the people of Baghaihat Paribahan Malik Samiti (Baghaihat Transport Owners Association). It is not yet known whether any disciplinary action has been taken against him by the Paribahan Malik Samiti.
As of the writing of this report, it has been learnt that the victim Jumma woman is going to file a case with the police station.
