Hill Voice, 8 September 2020, Khagrachari: Mahalchhari police have arrested two of the four accused in a case filed in connection with the gang-rape of a Jumma girl in Khagrachhari district’s Mahalchhari upazila. However, there are two other accused fugitives.
The detainees are Mohammad Al-Amin, 27, son of Alim Uddin of Natun Para in Mahalchhari and Mohammad Abdul Quader, 28, son of Mohammad Abdur Rahim, a resident of Mohammadpur.
Sources said that the police of Mahalchhari police station conducted a raid on the morning of September 8, 2020 and arrested the main accused Al Amin (27) from Sitakunda Kadam Rasul area of Chittagong. Later, Abdul Quader (28) was arrested from Mahalchhari police station area on his confession.
It may be mentioned that on 31st August 2020, Al Amin and 3 other unidentified persons took a Marma girl studying in Mahalchhari Adarsh Balika High School to a lonely place and raped her forcibly.
Six days after the incident was widely discussed on social media and various media outlets, the victim’s father filed a case with the Mahalchhari police station on September 6, 2020 at 7:00 pm. A case was filed against Al Amin, 26, son of Alim Uddin by name, a resident of Natun Para village in the case and three other unidentified persons.
Mahalchhari Police Station OC Md Jahangir said the accused Al Amin was arrested from Sitakunda Kadam Rasul area of Chittagong on the charge of attempted rape by the girl’s father. He said that later, according to his confession, Abdul Quader was arrested from Mahalchhari police station area.
