Hill Voice, 20 August 2020, Agartala: The 112th birth anniversary of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur has been celebrated across the state of Tripura on 19 August 2020 Thursday.
Even, this is for the first time in state’s history that the new government declared holiday in respect to the Maharaja Bir Bikram. Earlier, as per the initiative taken by the new government, the Agartala airport was renamed after Maharaja Bir Bikram.
After paying his tribute to Maharaja Bir Bikram at Benuban Vihar in Agartala, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said the state government is committed and working to fulfil the dreams of Maharaja.
The Chief Minister on his social media handle said, “Tripura will remain ever grateful to him for his relentless service to State through his modern thinking and hard work.
Our Govt is committed to serve the State and its people inspired by the vision of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Debbarman.”
Later speaking to media, the Chief Minister said that Maharaja Bir Bikram had taken several important steps including setting up of Airport during his reign to build modern Tripura.
He also said that the present government was trying to fulfil the dream of Maharaja Bir Bikram in transforming Tripura into a model state.
On Wednesday the 112th birth anniversary of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Mahadur was celebrated at Benuban Bihar in Agartala by the Information and Culture Department of the Government of Tripura.
Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma, Secretary of Information and Culture Affairs Department Shailendra Singh, Director Ratan Biswas and other dignitaries were present at the programme (Source: Times News).
Meanwhile, the birth anniversary of Maharaja Bir Bikram was celebrated at the premises of the main administrative building of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC) at Khumulung.
The event was inaugurated by Additional Chief Executive Officer Usha Ranjan Debbarma by lighting a lamp and laying a wreath in respect to Bir Bikram. Other officers and workers also took part.
Participating in the discussion, Usha Ranjan Debbarma referred to Maharaja Bir Vikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur as the architect of modern Tripura.
Besides, the birth anniversary of Maharaja Bir Bikram was celebrated at Khoyerpur in the initiative of Maharaja Bir Bikram University at Dhupchhara ADC Village, at the main gate of Rajbari Ujjayanta Prasadof Agartala in the initiative of Tripura Tribal Employees Association (TUJS), at Charilam Bidhan Sabha constituency by the Congress.
