Hill Voice, 18 June 2020, Bandarban: It has been alleged that a Jumma named Buddhasen Thanchangya (45), son of Dwibaratan Thanchangya, was picked up by people of the intelligence department from Balaghata area of Bandarban Sadar upazila under Bandarban district. The incident took place on 18 June 2020 Thursday at around 8:00 AM.
But at the time of writing this report, Buddhasen Thanchangya has not been traced out. His wife went to Bandarban Sadar Police Station and inquired from the police, but the police could not provide any information. Meanwhile, the wife and relatives of the abducted Buddhasen Tanchangya are said to be in deep anxiety.
According to local sources, after finishing work in his field on 18 June 2020, at around 8:00 am, he sat down in a tea shop owned by Jumma (Marma) to have tea in front of the gate of the Cotton Development Board.
At that time, about 3 Bengalis came in front of the tea shop in CNG taxi. Two of them got out of the taxi and took Buddhasen Tanchangya in a taxi saying that he had to go with them who introduced themselves as intelligence personnel. Then they left the place for Bandarban town.
Meanwhile, Gunadevi Tanchangya (35), wife of Buddhasen Thanchangya, and her relatives got worried after getting the news of the incident. They went to Bandarban Police Station around 9:30 am and informed the police about the matter and wanted to know the whereabouts of Buddhasen Thanchangya.
Police replied at the time that they did not know the whereabouts of Buddhasen Thanchangya. No one knows why the intelligence personnel took Buddhasen Tanchangya away.
Buddhadhan Tanchanga’s house is near the Cotton Development Board office in Balaghata area of Bandarban Sadar upazila. He is a farmer by profession.
One of the elder brothers of Buddhasen Thanchangya was a returning member of Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti who died in 2018 due to illness.
