Hill Voice, 27 April 2020, Rangamati: Local source reported that army-backed UPDF-Democratic and Reformist armed miscreants fired a few rounds of blank shots to intimidate villagers at Madhyam Baghaichhari area of Baghaichhari upazila in Rangamati district.
The local people panicked when they heard gunshots at night while they were under house confine as part of a lockdown to prevent the coronavirus,
According to local sources, on 25 April 2020 at 7:45 pm, a group of miscreants numbering 8/10 persons led by Khokon Chakma, a platoon commander of the army-backed UPDF-Democratic armed group took up position in the area called Madhyam Baghaichhari, about 3/4 km east of Baghaichhari police station.
At this time, they fired 4/5 rounds of blank shots to create fear among the people in the area next to Arya Bana Vihar.
With a mean objective to direct the CHT crisis to different course, the ruling leadership, in league with the state machineries and direct support, by providing shelter and support to the army-backed armed terrorist group known as ‘Reformist groups’ and a split faction of UPDF-Democratic, and using both the terrorist groups against PCJSS and implementation process of CHT Accord and establishing a reign of killings, terror, extortion and kidnapping by them in CHT continue.
Many locals, speaking on condition of anonymity, said as part of this conspiracy, the blank shots were fired by army-backed reformists and UPDF-Democratic armed terrorists.
