Delhi court dismisses false and defamatory case filed by Suhas Chakma

Hill Voice, 17 March  2026, International Desk: A court in New Delhi, India has reportedly dismissed a false and defamatory case filed by Suhas Chakma (Bodhimitra Chakma), known to many in India as a litigious and human rights trader.

It is reported that on 13 March 2026, Judge Harjot Singh Aujla (JMF-11, South West, Dwarka) of a court in Dwarka, New Delhi, gave the final verdict of dismissal after hearing the case.

The victims of the case say that after a long legal battle, truth has triumphed. They say that the malicious attempt taken by Suhas Chakma to humiliate and silence the voice of the Chakma student community of Arunachal Pradesh has been shattered by the Indian judiciary now. A Delhi court in Dwarka has dismissed the defamatory case filed by Suhas Chakma as baseless and false.

It is learnt that in 2022, Suhas Chakma filed a criminal defamatory case (Ct. Cases 2241/2022) against 12 student leaders from Arunachal Pradesh, including the current president of the All India Chakma Students’ Union (AICSU) Drishya Moni Chakma (then president, Arunachal Pradesh Chakma Students’ Union).

Suhas Chakma’s complaint was that they were protesting against the controversial and anti-social activities of Suhas Chakma. He alleged that he had been defamed due to a news item published in Guwahati’s ‘The Sentinel’ newspaper and had demanded Rs 12 lakh as compensation from the students. His main objective was to harass the students by threatening them with false cases and extort money.

As a result of the verdict in the case, Suhas Chakma’s allegations have been proven to be baseless, conspiratorial, and malicious.

It is worth noting that Suhas Chakma has been harassing dozens of Chakmas in India by filing such false defamatory cases. It is alleged that whenever someone argues with him or criticizes him, he threatens them with legal action and files false cases.
