Hill Voice, 25 March 2026, Special Correspondent: An allegation has emerged that a Marma housewife was subjected to an attempted to rape by a Bengali settler in Fakirnala village, under Manikchari Union of Manikchari Upazila in Khagrachari District.

Name of the accused attempted rapist identified as Md. Mizan (34), S/O Md. Anwar Hossain. He is reportedly from Shikdar Tila in the Hatimura area of Ward No. 3, Hafchhari Union, under Guimara Upazila in Khagrachari District.

According to sources, on Monday (23 March) at around 12:00 noon, when the victim went to fetch water, Md. Mizan allegedly attempted to rape her by force. When the victim screamed for help at the scene, nearby villagers became aware of the situation and quickly arrived, apprehending Mizan.

Later, it was reported that the local residents handed over the alleged attempted rapist, Md. Mizan, to local BNP leader Hafizul Islam.

Subsequently, it was reported that representatives of the Marma Oikya Parishad attempted to settle the incident in exchange for money and instructed the victim’s family not to file a case at the police station.
