Hill Voice, 30 November 2022, Rangamati: An innocent Jumma College student was allegedly killed and another villager seriously injured in Sajek Union area of Baghaichhari Upazila under Rangamati district in firing by anti-Accord UPDF terrorists.
Today, 30 November 2022, around 8:00 am, it was reported that this incident took place between Midpoint village and Daripara village of Ward No. 3 of Sajek Union.
The deceased has been identified as Sukhen Chakma (26), son of Mangal Chakma, Village-Midpoint. He is said to be a BA 3rd year college student. On the other hand, the injured person has been identified as Sajeeb Chakma (21), son of Mangal Chan Chakma, Village-Midpoint. He is said to be a motorcycle driver. Sukhen Chakma and Sajeeb Chakma are said to be their first cousins.
According to local sources, around 7:45 a.m. today, Sukhen Chakma and Sajeeb Chakma left their houses in Midpoint village towards Daripara village on a motorcycle. At around 8:00 a.m., a group of terrorists led by UPDF Commander Apan Chakma opened brush fire on Sukhen Chakma and Sajeeb Chakma on reaching the middle of the road.
Sukhen Chakma and Sajeeb Chakma, who were riding in the motorcycle, fell to the ground along with the motorcycle and both were shot. Soon after this, the UPDF terrorists fled.
Later, when the people of the surrounding area came to the spot and prepared to take the injured persons to the hospital, Sukhen Chakma was killed on the spot. On the other hand, it is said that Sajeeb Chakma was seriously injured and taken to the hospital.
It is known that yesterday (November 29) an armed terrorist group of anti-Accord UPDF led by Apan Chakma took position in the reserve forest area adjacent to the incident site.
