Hill Voice, 15 March 2022, Khagrachari: A Jumma named Nabayan Chakma alias Milon alias Sourav (48) has been killed in Dighinala Upazila of Khagrachari Hill District due to inhuman physical torture by the army. It has been reported that this incident took place in the morning of March 15, 2022.
According to local sources, on Tuesday around 3:00 am, a group of army personnel from Dighinala army zone went on patrol at Manibhadra Karbari Para in Baganpara area of Dighinala union. At that time, the army surrounded the house of Shanti Ranjan Chakma (48), a resident of the village and conducted a massive search.
At that time, the army caught Nabayan Chakma alias Milon alias Sourav, who was staying at the house for medical treatment, and started beating him severely. When Nabayan Chakma was severely injured in the inhumane beatings at a state, the army took him to Dighinala Upazila Hospital. Nabayan Chakma died in the morning while undergoing treatment.
During the search of the house, the army personnel ransacked the house and looted Tk. 40,480 in cash.
Meanwhile, the United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF) has claimed that Navayan Chakma alias Milon alias Sourav is one of its members.
