A Hindu youth beaten to death and then set on fire in Bhaluka, Mymensingh

Hill Voice, 19 December 2025, Mymensingh: A Hindu youth was allegedly lynched after being tied to a tree and beaten to death over accusations of making derogatory remarks about religion in Bhaluka, Mymensingh. Following the killing, his body was reportedly set on fire by a group of extremist individuals identifying themselves as “Tawhidi Janata.”

The incident occurred at around 9:00 pm on Thursday night (18 December) in front of the Pionear Knitwears factory in Dubalia Para, Square Master Bari area of Bhaluka Upazila. The deceased, Dipchandra Das (25), was the S/O Rabichandra Das of Tarakanda Upazila in Mymensingh. He was reportedly a worker at the Pioneer Knit Composite factory.

According to local sources, the deceased, Dipchandra Das, worked in the linking section of the factory. It is alleged that while working in the evening, he made derogatory remarks about religion during a conversation with a co-worker. News of the incident quickly spread beyond the factory’s mill gate.

Later, one and a half to two thousand extremist Muslim protesters, under the name “Tauhidi Janata,” gathered in front of the factory. They entered through the factory gate, dragged Dipchandra Das out, and beat him to death. Afterward, the body was dragged and hung from a road divider. Later, at around 11 pm, extremist Muslims named “Tawheedi Janata” poured kerosene on the body and set it on fire.

Later, police arrived at the scene, recovered the body, and sent it to the morgue of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.
