Hill voice, 2 April 2026, Bandarban: It has been reported that yesterday, Wednesday (1 April), at around 1:30 p.m., Md. Faridul Alam, an assistant teacher of Bochapara Government Primary School in Ward No. 2 of Gazalia Union under Lama Upazila in Bandarban district, severely tortured a first-grade student, Reshmi Tripura (6), inside the classroom. The child is the daughter of Rajani Tripura, a resident of Nimandra Member Para.

According to local sources, during class time the accused Faridul Alam asked the child student, Reshmi Tripura, to write the alphabet on the blackboard. When she failed to do so, he immediately slapped her forcefully. To prevent the child’s cries from being heard, he allegedly covered her mouth with his hand and switched off the CCTV camera immediately in an attempt to erase evidence. As a result, the child lost consciousness.

At one point, while she was unconscious, her classmates took her home and informed the child’s mother about the matter. Angered hearing the incident, local residents and the victim’s family confined the accused teacher inside the office at around 1:30 p.m.

According to the victim’s family, both the child’s mother and father had gone to work in the jum cultivation. Upon receiving news that their daughter had lost consciousness, they rushed back home.

They further stated that the accused assistant teacher switched off the school’s CCTV camera and assaulted their daughter while covering her mouth. During the incident, the child became mentally distressed and eventually lost consciousness. Later, she regained consciousness after water was poured on her head for a prolonged period, but she was unable to recognize anyone normally. They alleged that the incident was carried out in a planned manner.

Local guardians stated that, following the incident, they are concerned about the safety of their children and do not want the accused teacher to remain at the school.

The victim’s family and local guardians demanded exemplary punishment for the accused teacher and called for his immediate removal from the school.
