Joint forces launch massive military operation in Matiranga, firing on pro-Accord people

During the military operation, members of the joint forces reportedly fired several rounds of mortar shells and gunfire at pro-CHT Accord people in the surrounding area.

It is learnt that a joint group of the army, BGB and Ansar is conducting the operation under the leadership of Matiranga Army Zone Commander Lieutenant Colonel Md. Masud Khan and Matiranga Zone Officer Md. Faruk.

According to local sources, on March 16, 2026, at approximately 10:30 am, a group of the army from Matiranga Army Zone, a group of BGB from Tanikkapara BOP Camp operated under the Jaminipara Battalion (23 BGB) of Matiranga Upazila, and a group of Ansar from Matiranga Ansar Camp jointly flew a drone to observe the area at a place called Tanikkapara in Taindong Union. After that, they are said to have fired mortar shells and brushfired at people in favor of the CHT Accord who were stationed in another area of ​​Tanikkapara for some time.

It is also reported that the incident has created panic among the general Jumma people of the surrounding area. It is reported that there is currently widespread concern among the general public in that area and its surrounding areas.
