7 Hindus murdered in 19 days in Bangladesh

Sitanshu Guha, New York

Seven Hindus were murdered in 19 days in Bangladesh. It started on 18th December 2025 with the brutal killing of Dipu Chandra Das of Bhaluka and it ends with the shot death of businessman and journalist Rana Pratap Bairagi in Manirampur, Jessore on 6th January 2026. On the same day, however, Mithun Sarkar died by jumping into a pond in Naogaon to escape the mob lynching. A day earlier, on January 5, Narsingdi’s businessman Moni Chakraborty was hacked to death by miscreants.

There is no reason to think that this caravan of death is over! Tawhidi people (Islamic zealots) can start it anytime if they think their religion Islam is in danger or if they see a red thread in the hands of any Hindu! It doesn’t take any excuse to kill a Hindu in Bangladesh. But how long will it go on like this? The government, the administration, the media, the courts, and the people in the country are not in favour of Hindus, in fact everyone is anti-Hindu.

The Hindu population of Bangladesh is constantly living in fear. A nation cannot survive in fear. There is no other way to survive except to resist the perpetrators. In the words of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, ‘build forts in every house, fight the enemy with whatever you have’.

Mithun Sarker (Jan 6, 2026):
Hindu youth named Mithun Sarkar (25) died after jumping into a ditch after being chased by locals on suspicion of being a thief in Mahadevpur upazila of Naogaon. According to police and local sources, Mithun was chased by some youths on suspicion of being a thief at Chakgauri Hat around 1 pm on Tuesday 6th Jan 2026. After being chased, he ran to save his life and jumped into a creek beside the market. Since then, he has not been able to get out of the creek and has disappeared. (Bangladesh Desk, Ruposhi Bangla Television Online, 07 January 2026).

Khokon Chandra Das (31st Dec 2025):
ANI/ PTI reported that another Hindu businessperson Khokon Chandra Das, 50 was brutally attacked, hacked, and set on fire by unidentified miscreants on Wednesday night 31st December 2025 near his house at Shariatpur. The victim jumped into the nearby water and then hospitalized where he succumbed to his injuries later. From hospital bed Khokon told the names of his attackers. Although it may seem to be a robbery, but in fact it is an attack on another Hindu. Setting fire on the victim proves religious bigotry. He died 3rd January 2026. (timesnownews.com, 2 January 2026).

Bajendra Biswas (28 Dec 2025):
A Hindu garment worker deployed as a security guard was shot dead by a colleague inside a garment factory in Bangladesh’s Mymensingh district. The incident took place around 6.45 pm on Monday 28th December 2025 at Sultana Sweaters Limited, a Labib Group factory located in the Bhaluka upazila area. Dipu Chandra Das (18 Dec 2025):
New York Times wrote: Muslim co-workers accused the garment factory worker of blasphemy and dragged him into the street, where an angry mob murdered him. The newspaper headlined it as, ‘Lynching of a Hindu in Bangladesh fans fears of rising intolerance.’ Well, this is the sad story of Dipu Chandra Das, 27 who was lynched, dragged on the street, hanged into a tree, and then set fire. All these happened on 18th December 2025 in front of hundreds of Muslims, people call them ‘Towhidi Janata’, meaning militant Islamists.

Govinda Biswas survived lynching (19 Dec 2025):
Govinda Biswas was lucky that he survived the beating. A Hindu rickshaw puller Govinda Biswas was beaten by a mob in Jhenaidah district on Friday 19 December 2025 after onlookers noticed a sacred red thread (traditionally worn by Hindus) on his wrist and began circulating rumors about his identity and intentions. According to local accounts, the unidentified man was pulled from his vehicle and assaulted near the Jhenaidah municipality gate by a group of people who attacked him solely because of the red thread on his wrist. Witnesses say rumors quickly spread among the crowd, incorrectly suggesting he might be involved in espionage or other suspicious activity, prompting the brutal assault. Luckily, this guy survived. (hindupost.in, 23 December 2025).

I will end the article with the story of the brutal torture of a Hindu widow in Kaliganj (5th Jan 2026). The woman has a young son. She was raped by two Muslim men. They then slandered the woman and tied her to a tree and cut her hair. They circulated the video on social media. The woman, who has not been identified, is 40, one of the accused is Shaheen and the other is his accomplice. The rape happened in her house; her son was confined to another room. This is today’s Bangladesh. This is Hindu cleansing.
