India Govt takes serious note of Khagrachari-Guimara incident

Hill Voice, 15 December 2025, International Desk: In response to the petition submitted by the All India Chakma Students’ Union (AICSU) on 15 December 2025, the Government of India stated that it has taken serious note of Khagrachari-Guimara communal attack on indigenous Jumma peoples committed by Bengali Muslim settlers on 27-28 September 2025.

In the Facebook status of the AICSU) on 15 December, it is stated that the Government of India has formally accepted the petition submitted by the AICSU regarding the grave human rights violations against the Indigenous Jumma Peoples of the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT), Bangladesh.

The Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of External Affairs have taken serious note of the incidents and have officially taken up the matter with the Government of Bangladesh.

The Indian High Commission in Dhaka is closely monitoring the situation, reaffirming India’s concern for the protection of minorities and indigenous communities.

This is a major moral and diplomatic achievement for AICSU and for the Indigenous Jumma peoples, showing that consistent, peaceful, and constitutional advocacy does make an impact.

In the Facebook status, it is cited that AICSU will continue to stand firm until justice, safety, and dignity are ensured for our people.

It is mentionable that the AICSU submitted the petition to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 29 September 2025 urging to save lives and properties of Indigenous Jumma peoples in CHT.
